Work Summary

You can view a PowerPoint presentation I gave to an internal audience discussing some of the projects I worked on.

Duck Creek Technologies provides software products for every role in the world of P&C (property and casualty) insurance, from technical configurators building forms to ordinary policyholders.

In my yearlong internship, I conducted user research for internal initiatives ranging from accessibility to the company’s recently introduced design system. I ran test sessions with customers and mapped complex processes to help new employees understand what their role is at Duck Creek.

My case studies are undergoing review to ensure I do not disclose any confidential information. In the meantime, you may browse the aforementioned PowerPoint. I have also provided a high-level description of some of the projects covered in the PowerPoint as an alternative.

Design System Microsite

  • I designed and implemented a microsite introducing employees to Duck Creek’s Design System and providing easy access to resources to help different roles make the most of the Design System.

  • Existing site contained little useful information and was outdated

  • I interviewed users and stakeholders to understand what content would be most helpful in understanding how the Design System works.

  • The microsite needed to adhere to our intranet solution’s standards and limitations; I adapted my design as needed

  • The final result has a coherent internal navigation and can be easily expanded as the Design System adds new features and documentation

Assistive Technology Document

  • I researched, designed, and wrote a document to help employees at a leading P&C insurance software company understand the tools used by people with disabilities to navigate their devices.

  • Existing research was broader in scope – mostly included general statistics

  • I took a more specific approach: focus on specific tools and provide guidance on making our products inclusive to everyone.

  • I audited sources to ensure that information was accurate and timely.
